Some photos from the 2007 reunion.....

November 1942

Leave comments here if you have info or would like to request info regarding the attack on HMS Arethusa in November 1942.

WW2

Add comments to this post for Arethusa's involvement in WW2

F38

Add comments to this post for F38 the Leander Class Frigate.

This is my favourite photo of F38.....

Photographed from Ark Royal, this shows F38 "taking it green" or "shipping a green sea", it certainly shows the amazing sea going capability of the Leander Class Frigates!

Ian Hodges has today sent me the following email....

Mitch, saw the photo of the ship on the blog, thought you might want the full suite. I was on her at the time, the shoot as you rightly say was from a helo off Ark Royal. also in attendance was Bulwark and it was part of a fleet photo opportunity for he Navy Days poster for the following year.

Best Regards

Ian

Thanks Ian!

Here are the pics....

1935 Cruiser

Add your comments to this post for general comments re the 1935 cruiser launched at Chatham.

One of my favourite photos is this one submitted by the family of Leading Seaman Lawrance who survived the war and went on to train the Malayan RNVR.

At last I have found the time to do something about the guestbook for www.hms-arethusa.co.uk. The old guestbook was repeatedly targetted by spammers and the domain hosts were unable to do anything to help me.

I did download the archive of comments left and will add a read only archive to the main site as soon as I get the time.

Anyway, I thought long and hard about what to do about a replacement guestbook and finally decided on a blog, only because I have already been using a blog for my astronomy interests for some time.

I've set up this blog such that you shouldn't need a blogger account to post comments, I have set up some initial posts so that you can post your comments and as thing pick up I will create posts on your behalf.

Comments are (hopefully) moderated, so I will approve them as soon as poss.

Mitch
