My father, Robert(Tiz)Wye served on Arethusa,.He was a torpedo man and went on to serve thirty years in the navy in the electrical branch. He was on board when she was torpedoed and his best friend" Cutts Edwards" was killed. He was my parents best man at their wedding.
Your photos are brilliant.
Many thanks

Hi, My Dad Jim newman known also as whip, or the blacksmith's mate, was on the Arethusa in November 1942 when hit by torpedo. He was awarded the BEM. Sadly Dad died November 2008 I only found this web site after his death and was very proud to hear of his bravery which he never spoke to us about. We have since found photos which may be of interest to you. Is there anyone out there who may remember him. I am trying to arrange for his ashes to be scattered at sea by the Royal Navy as he requested.
