F38

Add comments to this post for F38 the Leander Class Frigate.

This is my favourite photo of F38.....

Photographed from Ark Royal, this shows F38 "taking it green" or "shipping a green sea", it certainly shows the amazing sea going capability of the Leander Class Frigates!

Ian Hodges has today sent me the following email....

Mitch, saw the photo of the ship on the blog, thought you might want the full suite. I was on her at the time, the shoot as you rightly say was from a helo off Ark Royal. also in attendance was Bulwark and it was part of a fleet photo opportunity for he Navy Days poster for the following year.

Best Regards

Ian

Thanks Ian!

Here are the pics....

Yep, some nice pics.
The ship/class could take certainly a pounding as was evident on the trip down to Hobart, which is probably what Bob is referring to.

It would be nice if these 'anonymous' bloggers (especially Taff Broadbent who I remember well) got in touch and learned about the Association which will be holding its 21st reunion in 2009!!!!

Fantastic pics. I served on her in the early eighties after she'd lost her gun turret to the Ikara anti-sub system. What's this about an Arethusa reunion in 2009?

Thanks for the great photos of a ship I once served on. I think I'm the only American naval officer to have been a crew member (1986 - 1988); great ship, great crew and really great memories.
